Principia Men's Cross Country wins 6K Home OpenerPublished by
ELSAH, ILL. -- Principia College's Men's Cross Country team opened their 2014 campaign with a win on Principia's North Farm course. The men's race was won by Oakland City University's Jesse Stanley. His time was 20:32. Leading the way for Principia was Sophomore Nate Richards. His 20:47 was good for second place overall. Just a second behind was Prin Sophomore Shane Witters Hicks. Freshman Zach Mathiessen was next across the line in 21:33. That 2-3-4 combination was too tough for the rest of the teams to overcome, and Prin's 9th and 15th place finishes (Sophomore Gavin Goodsell and Freshman Josh Keeley) closed out the scoring. Principia's next finishers were Freshman Mason Switzer, and Senior Andy Crump. The men's team score was 33 points, which bested Oakland City University's 48 points, Illinois College's 53 points, and Blackburn College's 85 points.
